Pelangi Publishing Group Bhd., commonly known as Pelangi, is a leading regional force in educational publishing and printing, with its headquarters in Malaysia and subsidiaries across Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, China, and the United Kingdom.

Established in 1979 by three visionary educators, Pelangi was born out of a mission to provide locally relevant educational resources in Bahasa Malaysia. It began with the publication of translated past-year examination papers and model answers for key subjects like Mathematics and Science — meeting the needs of a rapidly evolving national exam system. 

Our Journey of Growth

• 1980: Formed as Pelangi Education Enterprise
• 1982: Rebranded as Penerbitan Pelangi Sdn. Bhd., reflecting its roots in Taman Pelangi, Johor Bahru
• 1987: Gained approval from Malaysia’s Ministry of Education to publish its first textbook – Additional Mathematics Form 4 & 5
• 1987: Entered the global publishing scene via the Frankfurt International Book Fair, forming alliances with renowned publishers like Walt Disney, Dorling Kindersley, JK Rowling, Usborne Publishing, and others
• 2002: Became the first academic publisher in Malaysia to be awarded the ISO9001:2000 certification for Quality Management
